SEL for Elementary: Episode 6 – Bringing Self-Regulation to Light

$300.00

Join the Banyan Buddies, a group of friendly monster and kid pals, as they travel the universe in their SEL Spaceship. Just as their rocket needs fuel, the Banyan Buddies need to make sure their own brain “engines” are in tip-top shape. Monitoring their emotions is very important so that they don’t want to feel too low or stuck in overdrive. With the help of their Moody Meter, the Banyan Buddies work with students to learn to identify their emotions and self-regulate. This six-part series invites student participants to join the Banyan Buddies and embark on an SEL journey together!

Episode 6: Bringing Self-Regulation to Light

Identifying our feelings and finding strategies to control them is the final focus for the Banyan Buddies crew. In Episode 6, Bringing Self-Regulation To Light, students will brainstorm how to bring the Buddies back to the green zone of the Moody Meter and share their own experiences of dealing with life’s challenges and resolving them in a healthy way!

The variety show format keeps it snappy with several teachers using their personal passions to illustrate how they “get back to the green zone” to make good choices.

Middle & High School format focuses on the emotional impact of music and performance as an access point. Students choose music that represents the emotional state of their friends by practicing empathy, themselves by using the Zones of Regulation, and their future self by practicing a growth mindset. Diverse artists and performers model the skills and break down the elements that help music resonates so deeply.
