Digital Citizenship for Grade 5: The Complete Series

This three-part Digital Citizenship series for 5th graders in a fun, engaging and interactive way to bring Digital Citizenship into your classroom. Whether you already incorporate curriculum or do not have any, our teachers adapt this series to fit your needs. In this Digital Citizenship Series, students will learn how to safely and responsibly navigate the many aspects of the Internet. Each program can be given on its own, but they each work together, along with our programs for grades 6-8 to meet critical learning objectives on this topic.
This series includes all three episodes of the Digital Citizenship Series:
Episode 1: M.A.P of the Internet
Episode 2: Digital Self-Awareness
Episode 3: My Media Diet
Schools can deliver the series to the same classrooms or provide each grade level with one episode. Contact us for more details. We always try to meet the needs of each classroom.

Objectives

Episode 1:

Students will be able to identify different parts of the internet and assess whether they are safe or not. They will make connections between their emotions and internet usage. They will also establish a plan for themselves to follow as they continue to learn and grow using the internet.

Episode 2:

This lesson focuses on determining which parts of the internet  are safe. .

Episode 3:

Students will develop a greater awareness of what they consume daily on the internet. They will determine how to react to cyberbullying and “echo chambers”. They will learn how to set boundaries for themselves with social media usage and explore the ways in which all media is not created equal.
