Tsai Hsing School is an esteemed institution with a rich history in Taipei and new kindergarten branches in Daqing and Kunshan, China, that will open in the fall of 2014.  Our English program combines content-based instruction, student-centered activities and traditional methods to promote academic and real-world usage of the English language.

We are hiring for the following positions for the fall of 2014:

  1. Elementary and Kindergarten/Pre-K English homeroom teachers in Taipei, Taiwan

    (US state-certification required)

  2. Kindergarten/Pre-K English homeroom teachers in Daqing and Kunshan, China

    (US/Canada/TESOL/TEFL certification required)

  3. Kindergarten/Pre-K assistant teachers in Taiwan and China

    (no certification required)

Position #1

Taipei, Taiwan - Elementary, Kindergarten and Pre-K English Teacher

Compensation

  1. Average monthly salary of $2500 for US/Canada certified teachers with less than three years of US classroom experience as a lead teacher; $3000 for US/Canada certified with 3+ years of relevant experience.  
  2. As an incentive to complete the 2-year contract, 15% of the monthly wage will be set aside each pay period and put into an escrow account (the "Escrow payment").  The Escrow payment will be paid in full once the 2-year contract is completed.  If the teacher chooses to leave before the two-year period and thus terminate the contract, the Escrow payment will not be paid.
  3. Housing or equivalent stipend provided.
  4. 1 round trip airline ticket per year of service not to exceed $1500 US per ticket.

Duties

  1. Approximately 25 teaching periods (elementary) or 35 half-periods (kindergarten) per week and on campus daily for entirety of school day.  Time while on campus but not teaching should be spent in the classroom so as to be available for informal discussions with students.  Submit lesson plans when requested.
  2. Attend all required meetings during school hours and weekend commitments such as teacher parent meetings and other special events.  
  3. Correct all applicable student work in a timely manner, record oral readings as necessary.
  4. Assist in applicable English language events.
  5. Adhere to school-determined lesson pace where applicable.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Must be able to provide evidence of university diploma and US state teaching certification for elementary school multiple subjects or similar.  CANDIDATES WITHOUT CERTIFICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
  2. Must be able to provide access to a demo lesson in Los Angeles or Taipei or an electronic copy of a 5+ minute demo lesson video.
  3. Must be able to interview in Downtown LA, Taipei or over teleconferencing.
  4. Must be able to provide at least 3 professional references.
  5. No knowledge of Mandarin is necessary.

Miscellaneous

  1. Labor insurance and health insurance provided by school.
  2. School will manage work permit and alien resident certificate, including renewal after first year of service.
  3. Offspring of teachers are eligible for tuition assistance.  Full tuition must be paid for one school year; after this, a first child receives full tuition credit and all additional children receive half tuition assistance.

Calendar

  1. Commitment of 2 year-long terms are from August 1, 2014 to July 31, 2015 and from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2016.
  2. Approximately 3 weeks paid vacation (over Chinese New Year break)*
  3. Paid time off for local holidays and days between semesters*
  4. Up to six weeks of optional unpaid time off during summer break is available from end of semester until mid-August.  If option is not exercised, teacher will teach summer school and get paid the standard monthly rate.

*Actual time off depends on Education Bureau calendar for that year.  For less than one week of Chinese New Year break, teachers will be required to be on campus in preparation for the new semester.

Position #2

Daqing and Kunshan, China - Kindergarten/Pre-K English teacher 

Compensation

  1. Average monthly salary of $2000 for TESOL/TEFL certified experienced teachers; $2500 for US/Canada certified teachers with less than three years of relevant classroom experience; $3000 for US/Canada certified with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  2.   2. Must be able to interview in Downtown LA, Taipei or over teleconferencing.
  3. Must be able to provide at least 3 professional references.
  4. No knowledge of Mandarin is necessary.

Compensation

  1. Average monthly salary of $1000, no experience or certification required but preference given to those currently seeking certification or enrolled in a teacher education program.
  2. Lodging provided. 
  3. Round trip airfare provided.
  4. Duties
  1. Approximately 25 assistant teaching periods per week and on campus daily for entirety of school day.  Assist with submission of lesson plans when requested.
  2. Attend all required meetings during school hours and weekend commitments such as teacher parent meetings and other special events.  
  3. Assist with correction of all applicable student work.
  4. Assist in applicable English language events and competitions during school day.
  5. Adhere to school-determined lesson pace of special content relevant to periodical exams.

Candidate Requirements:
