Tsai Hsing School is an esteemed institution with a rich history in Taipei and new kindergarten branches in Kunshan, China.  Our English program combines content-based instruction, student-centered activities and traditional methods to promote academic and real-world usage of the English language.

We are currently hiring for 3 types of positions starting in AUGUST 2016:

1. Kindergarten Teachers in Kunshan, China. English teachers are required to have A) TEFL OR TESOL AND 2 years of relevant teaching experience OR B) State Teaching Credential. 

2. Kindergarten Teachers in Taipei, Taiwan. English teachers are required to have US State or Canadian Teaching Credential (TEFL/TESOL is recommended but insufficient without a credential). 

3. Elementary Teachers in Taipei, Taiwan. English teachers are required to have a US State or Canadian teaching credential (TEFL/TESOL is recommended but insufficient to attain a work visa without otherwise holding a credential).

KINDERGARTEN English Homeroom Teacher

Position #1 - Kunshan, China

Details of position

Location: Kunshan (Shanghai), China OR Taipei, Taiwan

Compensation

  1. Monthly salary of $2500 for US/Canada certified teachers. One year contracts with $5000 bonus upon completion of second consecutive year.
  2. Housing or equivalent stipend provided. 
  3. 1 round trip airline ticket per year of service not to exceed $1500 US per ticket.

Duties

  1. Approximately 35 half-periods per week as lead teacher of K1 (preschool), K2 (pre-K) and/or K3 (kindergarten) classes. On campus daily for entirety of school day. Time while on campus but not teaching should be spent in the classroom so as to be available for informal discussions with students. Submit lesson plans when requested.
  2. Attend all required meetings during school hours and weekend commitments such as teacher parent meetings and other special events.  
  3. Correct all applicable student work in a timely manner, record oral readings for periodical exams.
  4. Assist in applicable English language events and competitions during school day.
  5. Adhere to school-determined lesson pace of special content relevant to periodical exams.

Candidate Requirements:

  1. Must be able to provide access to a demo lesson in Shanghai, Taipei or Los Angeles or an electronic copy of a 5+ minute demo lesson video.
  2. Must be able to interview over video teleconferencing or in Shanghai, Taipei or Los Angeles.
  3. Must be able to provide at least 3 professional references.
  4. No knowledge of Mandarin is necessary.

Miscellaneous

  1. National health insurance provided via acquisition of work visa and residency permit.
  2. School will assist with visa/permit applications.

Calendar

  1. For positions starting in the 2015-2016 school year there is a commitment of 1.5 year term beginning no later than February 2016 until July 31, 2017 (completion of one and a half consecutive years receive cash bonus). For positions starting in August 2016, there is a commitment of 2 years with service ending July 31, 2018 (completion of two consecutive years receive cash bonus). 
  2. Approximately 3 weeks paid vacation (over Chinese New Year break)*.
  3. Paid time off for local holidays and days between semesters*.

*Actual time off depends on Education Bureau calendar for that year.  For less than one week of Chinese New Year break, teachers will be required to be on campus in preparation for the new semester.

DETAILS OF POSITION

Location: Taipei, Taiwan. Openings in August 2016

Compensation

Time while on campus but not teaching should be spent in the classroom so as to be available for informal discussions with students. Submit lesson plans when requested.
  2. Attend all required meetings during school hours and weekend commitments such as teacher parent meetings and other special events.  
  3. Correct all applicable student work in a timely manner, record oral readings for periodical exams.
  4. Assist in applicable English language events and competitions during school day.
  5. Adhere to school-determined lesson pace of special content relevant to periodical exams.

  1. There is a commitment of 2 years of service beginning in mid-August 2016 and ending July 31, 2018 (completion of two consecutive years receive cash bonus). 
  2. Approximately 3 weeks paid vacation (over Chinese New Year break)*.
  3. Unpaid leave during 6 weeks of summer break. Some teachers will be asked to teach summer school; the details of such service will be decided upon at the time of the request.
  4. Paid time off for local holidays*.

*Actual time off depends on Education Bureau calendar for that year.  For less than one week of Chinese New Year break, teachers will be required to be on campus in preparation for the new semester.
