Tsai Hsing School is an esteemed institution with a rich history in Taipei and a new kindergarden branch in Zhengzhou. Our progressive English program blends content-based instruction and student-centered activities with traditional methods to promote effective use of language and responsible global citizenship.
Tsai Hsing School is currently hiring for:
1) Elementary and Kindergarten/Pre-K teachers in Taipei, Taiwan (US multi-subject certification required)
2) Kindergarten/Pre-K teachers in Zhengzhou, China (US/Canada/TESOL/TEFL certification required)
3) Kindergarten/Pre-K assistant teacher (no certification required)

Position #1 - Taipei, Taiwan - Elementary, Kindergarten and Pre-K English Teacher
Compensation
- Average monthly salary of $2500 for US/Canada certified teachers with less than three years classroom experience; $3000 for US/Canada certified with 3+ years experience.
- As an incentive to complete the 2-year contract, 15% of the monthly wage will be set aside each pay period and put into an escrow account (the "Escrow payment"). The Escrow payment will be paid in full once the 2-year contract is completed. If the teacher chooses to leave before the two-year period and thus terminate the contract, the Escrow payment will not be paid.
- Housing or equivalent stipend provided.
- 1 round trip airline ticket per year of service not to exceed $1500 US per ticket.
Duties
- Approximately 25 teaching periods per week and on campus daily for entirety of school day. Submit lesson plans when requested.
- Attend all required meetings during school hours and weekend commitments such as teacher parent meetings and other special events.
- Correct all applicable student work in a timely manner, record oral readings as necessary.
- Assist in applicable English language events.
- Adhere to school-determined lesson pace where applicable.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must be able to provide evidence of university diploma and US state teaching certification for elementary school multiple subjects or similar. CANDIDATES WITHOUT CERTIFICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
- Must be able to provide access to a demo lesson in Los Angeles or Taipei or an electronic copy of a 5+ minute demo lesson video.
- Must be able to interview in Downtown LA, Taipei or over teleconferencing.
- Must be able to provide at least 3 professional references.
- No knowledge of Mandarin is necessary.
Miscellaneous
- Labor insurance and health insurance provided by school.
- School will manage work permit and alien resident certificate, including renewal after first year of service.
- Offspring of teachers are eligible for tuition assistance. Full tuition must be paid for one school year; after this, a first child receives full tuition credit and all additional children receive half tuition assistance.
Calendar
- Commitment of 2 year-long terms are from August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2014 and from August 1, 2014 to July 31, 2015.
- Approximately 3 weeks paid vacation (over Chinese New Year break)*
- Paid time off for local holidays and days between semesters*
- Up to six weeks of optional unpaid time off during summer break is available from end of semester until mid-August. If option is not exercised, teacher will teach summer school and get paid the standard monthly rate.
*Actual time off depends on Education Bureau calendar for that year
Position #2 - Zhengzhou, China - Kindergarten/Pre-K English teacher
Compensation
- Average monthly salary of $2000 for TESOL/TEFL certified experienced teachers; $2500 for US/Canada certified teachers with less than three years classroom experience; $3000 for US/Canada certified with 3+ years experience.

Compensation
- Average monthly salary of $1000, no experience or certification required but preference given to those currently seeking certification or enrolled in a teacher education program
- Lodging provided.
- Round trip airfare provided.
Duties
- Approximately 25 assistant teaching periods per week and on campus daily for entirety of school day. Assist with submission of lesson plans when requested.
- Attend all required meetings during school hours and weekend commitments such as teacher parent meetings and other special events.
- Assist with correction of all applicable student work.
- Assist in applicable English language events and competitions during school day.
- Adhere to school-determined lesson pace of special content relevant to periodical exams.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must be able to interview in Downtown LA, Taipei or over teleconferencing.
- Must be able to provide at least 3 professional references.
- Preference given to candidates with experience in the classroom and/or who are seeking certification and/or enrolled in a teacher training program.
- No knowledge of Mandarin is necessary.
